Gospel Music as a genre in Ghana is widely accepted and appreciated by many arguably because the country is dominated by Christian
religion. The genre is mostly adhered to by churches and devout Christians whiles the everyday Ghanaian who is typically engrossed in
secular music occasionally enjoys and appreciates it. The spectrum of audience this genre has garnered makes it formidable and an area
of focus.
Hundreds of artistes have sustained this genre encouraging a lot more new artistes to join. Unlike Secular musicians who are seen to be
doing business with music accruing huge revenues, these Gospel musicians seldom make money because they mainly sing to spread the
gospel in saving lives.
Ghana National Gospel Music Awards, A National Awards Scheme created to honor Gospel Musicians in the Country of Ghana and in the
diaspora. We started first event in 2017 which was won by Rev. Obaapa Christy. The scheme has so far held 3 years of successful events.
Funding for the Awards is being sourced from sponsors, who will have naming rights to an appropriate Award Category, along with a host of
supporting sponsors. The NGMA board will work collaboratively with existing agencies and stakeholders and through its own
marketing initiatives to ensure maximum exposure for the Awards, the Award finalists and recipients and the sponsors to the
wider community
