The organizers of this years Ghana National Gospel Music Awards has stated categorically that this years awards was free and fair by all standards.

The organizers stated their displeasure about comments from people who did not vote or follow proceedings with regards to the awards. They said the scheme is for gospel musicians and so there was no need to cheat.

Asking them about how the winners were selected, they gave a vivid explanation from the beginning of the journey to musicgh1.

1. Nominations were opened to all musicians whose works were released in the 2018 calendar year. In all there were 22 categories

2. The board selected the songs that were fit to be in the various categories. We looked at the quality of work, the lyrics and the genres and placed them accordingly.

We were not doing just any award. We were trying to promote the gospel, the organizers added and we can’t cheat. We told everyone from the beginning that we will never compromise the truth for money and that is exactly what happened.

3. 42 days of voting period was given to the public. Here the public was given 70% of the total score and 30% for the judges to decide. We did not consider any artiste as big or small because we were considering the gospel and not the name but we were also looking at the quality of work which I have mentioned in my second point. You can be big and God has rejected you the organizers added.

3. The panel also voted for the 30% and the winner was declared on that day. The public decided and the judges added their voice and this is the outcome and must be accepted as such. There is time for everything and Christians must learn to speak the truth.

Asking whether some musicians tried to pay money, the answer was a Big yes but we refused. Our credibility as a christian award scheme is at stake and we will not trade it for anything. We suggest you listen to the songs that won the awards several times like you do to the others and see if they are also not a hit for God, they added.
